Description |
Access off Mill Gate in Newark into Mill Lane. Over the bridge and park on the left next to the Dyke. The fishery extends from the bridge, downstream to within 25m of Newark Town Lock - see map below. Unpegged and consisting of a concrete wharf with a fair drop to the water surface, standard landing nets should suffice - no drop nets required. Members who recall the stretch being fished in years past rated it highly particularly when the water level was high. Recent bank walking identified lots of bait fish so could be a predator hot spot - it certainly screams 'Perch'. Moored boats including Canal and River Trust craft always have priority so actual fishable space will be limited at times. Fishing permitted from 1st October only. No fishing within 25m of Newark Town Lock at the downstream end of the fishery. |
